List of Volunteer opportunities
Writing letters to unsponsored children.
This is something we are super passionate about. We want to keep our children encouraged and let them know that we have so many people who believe in them. Also, having someone to mentor them and discuss any problems that they feel comfortable sharing is very important for them.
Writing letters to our boys in the transition home.
This is the same concept as the letters that we write to our sponsored children. We want the boys in our transitional home to feel like they have people fighting along side of them. Receiving letters is an important way for us to keep them encouraged and continue to pour love into them.
Writing letters to our parents.
One of the most important parts of our ministry is family reunification. Partnering with the parents of our sponsored children and boys in the transitional home is one way we can have the most effect with our ministry. Showing the parents that they are just as important to us as their children is very important to us. With that in mind, we would love to have people write to our parents to encourage them, mentor them and share inspirational stories with them.
Helping Hands on Tour.
We have our executive director and pastors visit the United States several times per year. We call these “tours” and have them travel all through out the United States sharing important updates and visions regarding our ministry. We would love to have people help at these locations. Whether it be driving them around, hosting them in your home, or being on-site at events to hand out items or man a merchandise table.
Packing Thank You Notes and Gifts.
This would be specifically for those local to the Upstate of South Carolina. You would help send thank you letters to sponsors, donors, and help package gifts to send out.

- Size of Team
Generally teams of 10 are ideal. We will accept a team size of up to 15 people. Teams that are larger than that simply aren’t able to get a full experience in Uganda and it actually makes our job more difficult instead of making it easier like smaller teams can.
We also are open to individuals coming on their own. We do ask that those coming as an individual are above the age of 18. Additionally, if your team is looking like it may be more than 15, consider splitting the team into 2 teams that would come on different weeks based on demographic similarities (similar ages, similar job or skills, similar activity levels, etc.).
Estimated CostCost will vary based on what type of team you bring. For instance, if its a medical team, the project supplies may be more expensive than if you choose ministry in the slums. Running a full children’s camp will be more expensive than a light construction trip. In general, though, all in-country expenses including project expenses generally run between $500-$700 US dollars per person. This is inclusive of all in country expenses. It does NOT include airfare, your VISA fee to enter the country ($50) and any pre-trip vaccinations you choose to get. An exact per person cost will be given to you when you complete the preliminary booking form for your trip.
Length of StayShort Term Teams generally stay anywhere from 10-15 days, including travel. Usually 10 is minimum since you lose about a day coming, plus a bit of a rest period for jet lag, and a day going, so that leaves 7 full days for ministry.
Time of YearAny time of year is a great time of year to take a trip to Uganda. The weather here is a constant 65-85 degrees Fahrenheit all year long, so even if it is the dead of winter in your hometown, its a nice temperature here. Airfare varies greatly throughout the year; however, generally March/April and Sept/Oct are the cheapest times to travel. Winter is the second cheapest, and summer is the most expensive time to travel. Your specific airfare will depend on the airport you fly out of, the carrier you use, and the flight pattern you choose, but generally it will range between $1100 and $2,000. You can book this, or we can book your tickets for you for a truly all inclusive trip cost.

This is more than a dream. This chance to save the lives of vulnerable children in Uganda doesn’t depend on the giftedness of missionaries, the board of directors or a talented staff of volunteers. Saving these children and families will depend on a community of people investing in their lives in this endeavor because they have a heart to see these children lifted out of poverty and into the hope found in Christ. We want to include everyone to participate in a meaningful, thoughtful and substantial way in order to see this dream become a reality. Your response to this life-changing opportunity is where the dreams of at-risk Ugandan children become reality.

In your giving, our prayer is that you may give in accordance with the spirit of 2 Corinthians 9:7 where Paul encourages, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (ESV) We thank you for your investment in the lives of children and families in Uganda and cherish your partnership with us!
